The purpose of this program is to identify residents with vision difficulties and challenges. A loss of vision and/or a change in vision can impact an individual’s quality of life. Vision loss and vision changes can directly impact an individual’s ability to complete basic self-cares and engage in occupations that are meaningful. Vision loss or vision changes can also impact an individual’s safety related to ambulation and transfers and place them at increased risk for falls and injury. Treatments can include environmental adaptations, education on visual fields and use of adaptive equipment, and, as indicated, vision retraining.
