Focus on Rehab Dining Program

The purpose of this program is to identify residents who are having difficulties with self-feeding, meal-time positioning impairments that affect oral intake, may dislike their current diet level recommendations, and are at risk for or have lost weight. These residents are at high risk of coughing and choking, present with poor oral intake and poor nutritional status overall, and are at risk for continued weight loss without skilled interventions. Proper nutrition aids residents in living longer and lowering the risk of serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Interprofessional practice is key to a successful program.
